It certainly wasn’t like this when I studied the sciences back in the ’70’s and ’80’s (that’s 1970’s & 1980’s not the 1870’s…).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This album; The Sciences by Sleep<\/a> is superlative! From its concept, cover art, song titles and of course music, is just perfect. It should be compulsory listening in any science class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The album builds upon Sleep’s Holy Mountain (which I played straight afterwards) and ‘delivers…’ as the sticker on the outer cover states. What it does do for me, is confirm there just isn’t enough Sleep – we need more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I reiterate, It certainly wasn’t like this when I studied the sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, what this album does is prompt you to go out and find any and everything by Matt Pike and Al Cisneros. Matt in his incarnation as High on Fire<\/a> and Al in his, as Om<\/a>. High on Fire brings a lot more energy and I class as a Heavy Metal band whereas Om are more a spiritual successor to Sleep, although Sleep are by no means out of the picture. Hopefully there will be more Sleep in the near future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
